Leichhardt is a suburb of Sydney, Australia, located in the Inner West of the city. It is located about 8 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district and is the administrative centre for the local government area of the Inner West Council. The suburb is named after the explorer Ludwig Leichhardt, who explored the area in 1842. The area is known for its Italian culture, with many Italian restaurants, cafes and shops. It is also home to the popular Norton Street Italian Festa, which is held annually in October. Leichhardt is well connected to the rest of Sydney, with regular bus and light rail services. It is also close to the University of Sydney and the University of Technology Sydney.
