Editorial policy

How Cockatoo prepares, dates, sources, updates, and corrects its Australian guides and explainers.

Our principles

  • Write in plain English and distinguish general information from personal advice.
  • Prefer Australian primary sources such as legislation, regulators, government agencies, and official data.
  • Do not invent ratings, reviews, prices, credentials, or customer outcomes.
  • Disclose partner relationships where they may influence a reader's next action.

Dates and updates

Publication dates describe when a guide first appeared. An updated date is shown only when the underlying article record includes a later modification date. A year in a headline is not a substitute for a documented update.

Sources

When an article contains external references, Cockatoo lists those links in a visible sources section. Readers should confirm time-sensitive thresholds, rates, eligibility rules, and legal requirements with the relevant official authority before acting.

Corrections

If you find a factual error, send the page URL and the correction to[email protected]. Material corrections should update the article record and its visible modified date.
