Kirwan is a suburb of Townsville in Queensland, Australia. It is located approximately 8km south of the Townsville CBD. The suburb is named after the former mayor of Townsville, William Kirwan. The suburb is home to a number of schools, including Kirwan State High School, Kirwan State School, and St. Margaret Mary’s Primary School. The suburb is also home to the Townsville Turf Club, which hosts a number of horse racing events throughout the year. The suburb is also home to a number of parks and reserves, including the Kirwan Recreation Reserve, which is home to a number of sporting facilities.
