Wallsend is a suburb of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, located approximately 12km from the Newcastle CBD. It is the administrative centre of the City of Newcastle and is home to a population of approximately 20,000 people. The suburb is known for its rich history, having been the site of coal mining and shipbuilding since the 19th century. It is also home to a number of historic sites, including the Wallsend Colliery, the Wallsend Slipways, and the Wallsend War Memorial. The suburb is also home to a number of parks, including the Wallsend Park, the Wallsend Wetlands, and the Wallsend Botanic Gardens.
