Point Cook is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located 18 km south-west of the Melbourne CBD. It is the home of RAAF Base Williams, the birthplace of the Royal Australian Air Force, and the original home of the RAAF Museum. The suburb is named after John M. Cook, the pilot of the first aircraft to fly in Australia. The suburb is bounded by the Princes Freeway to the north, the Kororoit Creek to the east, the Skeleton Creek to the south and the Werribee River to the west. The area is predominantly residential, with some industrial and commercial areas. The Point Cook Coastal Park is located on the western side of the suburb, and is a popular spot for fishing, swimming and bird watching. The Point Cook Homestead, built in 1857, is a popular tourist attraction. The suburb also has a number of schools, including Point Cook Primary School, Point Cook Senior Secondary College and Point Cook College.
