The suburb is named after Peter Lalor, leader of the Eureka Rebellion in 1854. The suburb is home to the Eureka Stadium, a sports and entertainment venue. The suburb is also home to the Eureka Stockade Memorial Park, which commemorates the Eureka Rebellion.
