It is located about 40 km south-east of the Melbourne city centre, and is part of the Greater Melbourne metropolitan area. The suburb is bounded by the suburbs of Frankston North, Langwarrin, Seaford and Carrum Downs. It is a residential area, with a population of approximately 8,000 people.
