Forest
Epping Forest is a large area of ancient woodland in the county of Essex, England. It is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Area of Conservation. The forest covers an area of 2,476 hectares and is managed by the City of London Corporation. It is an important habitat for a wide variety of wildlife, including birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates and plants. The forest is also home to a number of rare species, such as the stag beetle, the great crested newt and the Barbastelle bat. The forest is popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders, and there are a number of waymarked trails and bridleways. There are also a number of visitor centres, cafes and pubs located within the forest.
