Echuca is a town located in the state of Victoria, Australia. It is situated on the banks of the Murray River, approximately 200 kilometres (124 mi) north of Melbourne. The town is the administrative centre of the Shire of Campaspe and is the largest settlement in the shire. Echuca is a popular tourist destination, and is well known for its historic port, the largest on the Murray River. The port is home to the largest paddle steamer fleet in the world, and the town is a major centre for the tourism industry. The town is also known for its wineries, galleries, and its many festivals and events.
