Bendigo is a city located in the state of Victoria, Australia. It is the fourth-largest inland city in Australia and the largest city in the state of Victoria. The city is located on the Loddon River in the Bendigo Valley, approximately 150 kilometres (93 mi) northwest of Melbourne. It is the administrative centre for the City of Greater Bendigo, which encompasses both the urban area and outlying towns spanning an area of approximately 3,000 square kilometres (1,200 sq mi). The population of the City of Greater Bendigo was estimated at 110,941 as of June 2018. The city is renowned for its Victorian-era architectural heritage, and its gold rush history.
